Today, we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ…the Prince of Peace came to earth to live among us…
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
During this season we sing of peace on earth, yet we long for peace in our hearts and with those we love. The question we often ask is “where is peace in a world full of hate?” We walk around with anxious thoughts and busy minds, thinking that something will change “if only” we had peace.
The truth is, We can have peace when we keep our minds focused on our heavenly father…. perfect peace, actually…
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock. – Isaiah 26:3-4
Before Jesus left, physically, from this earth, He told us…
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27
Often, I forget that I have His peace [Not just peace, His peace]. Christmas is a perfect reminder that the peace that comes to us cannot be manufactured by our own efforts. Today, and in the year ahead, let us live with perfect peace. Let us remember we don’t have to struggle to obtain it. We have been given a wonderful gift from the one and only Prince of Peace.
